Meet the Animals

Since we are a sanctuary, our animals come to live our the rest of their lives. Therefore, we are only able to take in a certain amount of each animal so as not to stretch our resources too thin and be unable to provide the proper care to each of our residents. Currently, we house 24 animals and you can meet some of them below!

Sanctuary Cats - Castiel, Lilith, Jeffrey, and Luckie

Jeffrey is our oldest and longest resident here at the sanctuary. He came to us when he was about 2-years old and we have had him 14 years. Going slightly deaf in his older age, he is still the sweetest, most friendly kitty you'd ever meet!

Luckie is also in her senior years at the age of 14. When she was less than a year, she was bitten by a brown recluse spider and had serious complications from it. but she has a fighter's heart and has been a happy healthy kitty ever since her recovery.

Lilith or "Lili" showed up on our doorstep at about 5-weeks old in the pouring rain, crying for her mother. She was tiny but fierce with a very sassy attitude. But she has grown into a beautiful, even-tempered princess at the age of 8 years old.

Castiel or "Cas" came to us when he was about 5 weeks. It was suspected that the rest of his litter had been grabbed by hawks and the mother had abandoned them. He is now a feisty 7 years old who still meows like a kitten and acts like the forever baby.

Currently we have four kitty residents - Jeffrey, Luckie, Lilith "Lili", & Castiel "Cas"

Zorro & Bandit are our two senior bunnies at the sanctuary.

These sweet boys are 6 year old holland lop bunny brothers. Zorro has a bum leg as the result of an accident when he was a baby, however, he doesn’t let that slow him down! These two are truly a bonded pair as you are unlikely to find one without the other and you can always catch them cuddling and grooming each other.

Unfortunately, many people don’t realize all the care that goes into keeping bunnies as happy and healthy pets, and because of that, good-intentioned bunny owners find themselves looking for new homes for their big-eared friends or with very depressed, unhealthy rabbits.

Rescued guinea pig brothers Chatta and Wally.

Chatta & Wally are our two guinea pig brothers by circumstance & have been with us for about 2 years.

These handsome boys came to us after their owner fell on hard times. When they arrived we found that not only did they have extremely dirty ears but due to the poor sanitary conditions they had been in, they had fecal matter completely hardened and stuck on almost all of their back toes. After some patience and soaking in Epsom salts, we were able to safely remove and clean their little feet.

Wally also has slight neurological damage from an ear infection when he was younger that likely went untreated for some time to cause damage.

These babies came to us in a filthy cage with no hay, very few suitable chewing toys and enrichment, and an improper diet. They are now in a clean environment, being fed the proper nutrition, and know that they are safe and loved here at the sanctuary!

Sycamore & Ash are our two mice residents from an accidental litter.

Luckily, these cuties did not come from a neglectful or abusive home but from a very loving mom who knew a new home was best for them. As the result of an accidental litter (after a pet store told their human mom that their mice parents were both the same gender but turns out they weren’t!), Ash and Sycamore came along and when they hit puberty, they started fighting as male mice do. Their mom knew she didn’t have the space to add more enclosures to her already full house, and so she reached out to us for help.

Both boys now live in their own habitats that are near one another so they can still see their buddy. They spend their days burrowing, chewing, and begging for little snacks from us!

Bob & Indigo are mom and daughter while Ruthie is their bonded sister.

These girls came to us almost a year ago after their original owners had some change in life circumstances. When they arrived, these girls were extremely skittish due to a lack of human socializing and had nails so long they were curling under their paws.

Since their arrival, we have patiently worked with them to gain their trust enough that they will now take food from our hands and don't run and hide when we enter the room.

They are now happy and healthy ladies and some of the noisiest guinea pigs when it comes to dinner or greens time we have ever heard!

Jasper & Morgan are the proud parents of sweet Onyx, Charlie, & Pearl.

This beautiful family of English spot bunnies came from an accidental litter after mom and dad (Jasper and Morgan) were incorrectly sexed as two females.

Morgan came in with a bit of an eye infection which after a trip to the vet, she was diagnosed with an entropic eye - her eyelid turns inward, causing her eyelashes to scratch her eye, causing frequent infections and constant discomfort. We are currently raising money to get her corrective surgery.

All five have been spayed/neutered, some minor health issues addressed, and are now living their best lives here at the sanctuary!
